Ambassador's Last Rites

The final death knell has been sounded for my beloved (it should have been the city’s, too) Ambassador Hotel. If one followed the news about the proceedings of the LAUSD over the past few years, and especially the past few months, this was, most unfortunately, inevitable. The L.A. Times Article is here.

Only LAUSD Board member David Tokofsky, whose group had the final say on what would happen to the hotel, did all he could (I think and hope) to not demolish the hotel. From the Times:
"Anything that keeps us on the path of destroying this landmark and the history causes nothing but a wave of sadness and anger," said Tokofsky, adding that he has yet to fully study the settlement. [between the L.A. Conservancy, which has been involved in numerous lawsuits to try and save the hotel, and the LAUSD – ed.]
